Meeting on Policy Brief Formulation for the Development and Utilization of CCS/CCUS Hub in Fossil Energy-Based Industries

Bandung, August 5, 2025 – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Bureau of Energy Policy Facilitation and Assembly Affairs, held a meeting to formulate a policy brief on the development and utilization of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Hub in fossil energy-based industries.

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Ir. Eri Purnomohadi, M.M., took place at the PPSDMA Building, Bandung. It was attended by representatives from government institutions, academics from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), civil society organizations, and the Secretariat General of the National Energy Council.

The agenda covered:

  • Policy and strategy presentations on the development of oil and gas fields as CCS/CCUS storage integrated with industries.
  • Research presentations on the potential development and utilization of CCS/CCUS Hub by ITB experts.
  • An economic analysis of CCS/CCUS Hub implementation in fossil energy-based industries presented by the Indonesia CCS Center (ICCSC).
  • Interactive discussions among participants on the future direction of CCS/CCUS in Indonesia.

This meeting aims to produce a comprehensive policy brief that will serve as a foundation for advancing Indonesia’s national CCS/CCUS strategy, while strengthening the country’s role in energy transition and emission reduction commitments.
