Bandung, 1 September 2025 – The Indonesia Center of Excellence for CCS and CCUS ITB, together with the CO₂ and Flare Gas Utilization Center of ITB, has received an official invitation from the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) to serve as co-host of the 5th Asia CCUS Network Forum. The event will be held on 10-11 September 2025 at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, carrying the theme “International CCUS Projects and Commercialization of CO₂ Utilization as a Raw Material for the Chemical Industry (Carbon Recycling).”

The Forum is an annual agenda of the Asia CCUS Network, a collaborative platform established in 2021 and endorsed by the 14th East Asia Summit Energy Ministerial Meeting (14th EAS EMM). Its main objective is to accelerate cooperation in the development and deployment of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) across the Asian region.

Since its inception, the Asia CCUS Network has actively conducted various activities, including research, training, and workshops. Indonesia has played an important role in several joint studies involving BRIN, LEMIGAS, the Indonesia CoE CCS/CCUS ITB, as well as international partners from ASEAN, Japan, Australia, and the United States.

This year’s Forum will gather experts, government officials, researchers, investors, and industry stakeholders to discuss technological advancements, regulations, investments, and funding opportunities for advancing CCUS in Asia.

The Indonesia CoE CCS/CCUS ITB and the CO₂ and Flare Gas Utilization Center of ITB have been appointed as co-hosts of the event. In addition, Prof. Dr. Sanggono Adisasmito, Head of the Center and Executive Director of the Indonesia CoE CCS/CCUS ITB, will deliver the opening remarks during the first session of the Forum.

ITB’s involvement in this international forum further underscores Indonesia’s crucial role in promoting a sustainable energy transition and advancing carbon capture and utilization technologies, which hold strategic value for both industry and the environment.
